Walter Elias “Walt” Disney was born in 1901, in Chicago and he died in 1966, in California . Although he was born in Chicago, he lived up the rest (and majority ) of his live in his residence , in Chicago.
Walt Disney was an American film producer, animator , voice actor and much more. A very important thing about him is that he’s a co-founder of The Walt Disney Company, which is propably the greatest and the most well- known film company based on animated cartoons.
His parents were Elias Disney and Flora Call Disney. His father was a strict man, who wasn’t afraid to use force and abuse his children . Disney lived on a farm , where he started loving animals, which was propably the reason for his animal cartoons. After the farm failed, he and his family moved to Missouri , where he started drawing.
Disney left school (McKinley high school) at 17, because he wanted to go to war and he participated in World War l. He came home in 1919 and started working as illustrator for commercials . In 1923 he and his brother Roy went to Hollywood with just 40 dollars and there his life changed totally, where he had success after success.
He is most known for his animated cartoons, most popular of which is Mickey Mouse , whom he gave the voice himself . Mickey Mouse was his first great success. Mickey Mouse first appeared in 1928 and it was the first animated cartoon with synchronized voice in history of animation.
In 1932, Walt Disney created a cartoon Flowers and Trees , which was the first cartoon in colour and it was the first cartoon to get an Oscar’s award.
In 1937, Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs, the first full - length animated musical , was premiered and it was also a great success. This cartoon raised over 1 million dollars, which was quite a sum at that time.
In 1955 he opened a huge theme -park in California, which he called after himself – Disneyland . Disneyland soon became the most popular theme park in the world and which is still one of the most well-known amusement parks ever built .
Walt Disney married in 1925, on Lillian Bonds, a worker in his first film studio . Their marriage lasted until Walt Disney died, and during their marriage Lillian gave birth to Diane Marie Disney, and later they adopted a second daughter Sharon Mae Disney.
I chose Walt Disney, because in my opinion he was an incredible person . I’m very impressedby his accomplishments and by the fact that he was able to change the whole animation world by himself, without having anything at the time. He had nothing , when he came to Hollywood, but he became greatest animator of all time, novator of many ideas and really creative person.
