Dear Kaisa, 09.10.2011 Hello! How is it going in Estonia? If you remember I'm in Canada and that is why I'm writing you. I miss you and all classmates. Tell hey them from me. The School where I am studying is Académie Ste. Cécile International School. I can take music, drama and languages courses. That is really interesting and I like here. All the classmates are really friendly and understanding. The family where I am living with is big. There is a mother and father, two sons and one daughter. They are really nice. I get along with their daughter whose name is Carlis. My English is better than before and I am more confident. This is a positive experience. I hope you are okay and I hope to hear from you soon. Education

Relaying my own experience is easy: I had a standard classroom approach, supplemented by inordinate reading. In only the briefest and least memorable instances did I receive any individual tutoring. Education is commonly thought of as the job of schools. Adults cry "educate our children!" Everyone has opinions about the best way to do the job. It is of urgent importance, and all the numerous factors are much studied, debated, and new (or old) ideas continually tested or retested. Some people say "it's as simple as . . . " and then name their pet peeve or passion. My view is not of an education specialist, but of one who loves sharing what I learn, and owes much to educators. Since I don't have an educational theory neatly worked-out, nor an outline of my perceptions, my intent is to addr...

Kafka's Hunger Artist

The viewing public's interest is derived from their desire to see the hunger artist cheating, but to view this would put an end to that desire. Finally, Kafka presents this idea while the artist is at the circus and describing when people wish to view the starved man. The hunger artist's nourishment is spiritual. The man only wishes to be honored by the public. As he continuously spirals downward in his health, he looses all forms of material nourishment. As the days go on, there is conflict between the artist and the audience, as they do not believe him honest in claiming not to have eaten. By searching for the audience's approval, a symbol for spiritual nourishment, he loses both material and spiritual nourishment. The climax of the story occurs when he...

Health

The National Health Service The National Health Service was established in Britain after World War II. The government funds it. All taxpayers contribute to its support through insurance payment. NHS made it possible that the benefits once available only for insured persons, or those who could afford it or as a form of charity, became available to everyone. The patient is free to choose his doctor, and change to another if he wishes to do so. The doctor may accept private patients while taking part in the service. About 97% of the whole population of Great Britain is using the service. Only persons whose names are on the medial register can parties as doctors in the NHS. The minimum qualification for registration requires, for a doctor 5 to 7 years' training in the medical school and hospital, for a dentist 4 years at a dental school. 4. Diseases Today many diseases are well known and can be cured...

It is retained when the writer wishes to emphasise his own role or that of the readers: 'Further to our telephone conversation ... I would like to confirm that...' Redundancy The writer has several times included words or phrases that are unnecessary because they add nothing to the reader's understanding: difficult problems (all problems are difficult) We've made lots of complaints to the Autocheck Manager about the work Autocheck is doing just now. Connecting Ideas Logically and Effectively

In 1a) and 2b), on the other hand, the organization of ideas would seem to lead towards quite the opposite recommendation to the one which is actually given. How does this happen? In both versions of each report, the writer has a positive and a negative point to discuss. For instance in 1, the positive point is the machine's efficiency, the negative point is the cost. Which point the writer wishes to emphasize will depend on the recommendation: to support a negative recommendation (we should not purchase the machine) the negative point should be emphasized; to support a positive recommendation (we should purchase the machine) the positive point should be emphasized. There are two ways of doing this: The point placed second receives greater focus, or emphasis, than the point placed first. So, Negative+Positive focuses on the positive...

The Inchcape Rock

The Rover stands on the deck of the ship, worrying. It is now a very dark night - there are no stars, nor the moon to give them light. He hopes the moon will soon rise, so they would be able to know where they are. Then one of sailors says that he can hear the sound of the waves breaking and he believes they are near a shore. Sir Ralph answers him that he is not sure where they are, but he wishes he could hear the Inchcape Bell. Here again, the sensation of something bad happening is 2 very strong, the description of the dead-silent sea is no longer lovely and relaxing, but vice versa, very disturbing. The complete darkness also has a part in it, of course. The sailors, obviously, do not hear the Bell (as it is in the bottom of the ocean). The current is very strong and it carries the floating ship with it...

Christmas in different countrys(jõulud erinevates maades)

On Christmas Eve everyone in the family, carries a lit candle, to stand around an unlit bonfire outside their house. The youngest child usually the son of the family reads the Christmas story, after which the bonfire is lit. The way the flames spread shows the luck of the house in the coming year. When the fire burns, psalms are sung, and when it sinks, everyone leaps over the embers making wishes . Early on Christmas morning everyone goes to Mass. At this Mass another bonfire is lit in the middle of the floor. While the wood is blazing, ancient hymns are sung and the celebrant carries a figure of the Christ Child around the building. After this the celebrant then touches the nearest person in a "touch of peace". This touch is passed from one to another until everyone has received it. Christmas dinner is chicken, oranges, nuts and pastries. But it is on New Year's Day that...

Foursyte Saga - The Man of Property

Soames is looking at cheaper sites lower on the hill, but Bosinney finds the perfect spot: at the top. The view is lovely, and even Soames is moved by it. He takes the site. Irene and June tell Bosinney, who's working on a design, about how much they dislike Soames. Irene tells Bosinney to put tall walls around the house, if he wishes to please its owner. June retorts that Soames loves to show off. Irene still hasn't officially been told by Soames. Aunt Anne is old and bedridden. She hears the new from Forsyte 'Change, and tells Aunt Hester to warn Soames to be very very careful. We find Soames ranting at Irene about something or other fairly unpleasant. He doesn't like June much. He gets the news about the house out under cover of the burst of irritation. She doesn't react....

Hamelti tegelased (Ingilse keeles)

Laertes - Polonius's son and Ophelia's brother, a young man who spends much of the play in France. Passionate and quick to action, Laertes is clearly a foil for the reflective Hamlet. Fortinbras - The young Prince of Norway, whose father the king (also named Fortinbras) was killed by Hamlet's father (also named Hamlet). Now Fortinbras wishes to attack Denmark to avenge his father's honor, making him another foil for Prince Hamlet. The Ghost - The specter of Hamlet's recently deceased father. The ghost, who claims to have been murdered by Claudius, calls upon Hamlet to avenge him. However, it is not entirely certain whether the ghost is what it appears to be, or whether it is something else. Hamlet speculates that the ghost might be a devil sent to deceive him...

Pros and Cons of the Capital Punishment

On the other hand, there are opponents of the death penalty claim that `capital punishment cheapens human's life and government on the same low moral level as criminals who have taken life.` personally, I strongly support this idea. I think, that the government must be smarter and invent some kind of punishment, that would satisfy the wishes of the families and friends of murder victims and at the same time, this punishment should not be a crime. From my point of view, death penalty is the same crime like a simple murder, but it is legal, because the part of murderer plays the government. All in all, I am glad that in Estonia the capital punishment is abolished and I think. That it should be forbidden all over the world. Till then we need to think of another way of punishment criminals....

Informal letters

Last year I took my exams so I believe I could help you. First off I strongly recommend you to have a good night sleep the night before your exam. Study everything you might need but try not to overdo the studying. After all the exam is to test whether you have learned anything during the years you have spent in school. I believe you'll do just fine with the exams. Best wishes , Betti. Dear Kate, I think that travelling is the best way to broaden you mind and to explore the world. I haven't travelled a lot recently. The last place I visited was Finland, which was in August 2008. Most of the trips I've taken were when I was too young to remember them. For instance I went to a European trip with my family when I was four years old. We visited such countries...
