spectacular scenery. The region boasts mountains as high as 4,500 meters, peninsulas, and one of the largest archipelagos in the world. The climate of the Mediterranean Basin is dominated by cool, wet winters and hot, dry summers, and rainfall ranges from as little as 100 millimeters to as much as 3,000 millimeters. Although much of the hotspot was once covered in evergreen oak forests, deciduous and conifer forests, eight thousand years of human settlement and habitat modification have distinctly altered the characteristic vegetation. Today, the most widespread vegetation type is hard-leafed or sclerophyllus shrublands called maquis or matorral, which include representatives from the plant genera Juniperus, Myrtus, Olea, Phillyrea, Pistacia, and Quercus. This vegetation is similar in appearance to the chaparral vegetation of California and the matorral of Chile

Is football better than reading?

the Germans always win.." Football is quite important for all of us. This is a game of emotions, where everyone can show, who they are supporting. This is a team sport, where all 11 players are involved on every play. Reading is an entertainment, by which we slip, involuntarily, often helplessly, into another's skin, another's voice, another's soul. Reading is also very educating. In my opinion, football is a thousand times better. Playing football improves a team spirit and It also helps to stay fit. So my choice is definitely football.

Why languages essee

Why Languages? Languages are very important nowadays. There are more than seven thousand languages in the world. Some of the languages are more widely spread than others like English, German and Mandarin language. It is important to learn languages because people travel a lot and then the communication is easier. In the world there are so many languages and it is impossible that we could speak them all. That's why there are some dominant languages. I think one of the most spoken languages is English, because so many people in the world can speak it.

The term motorcar has also been used in the context of electrified rail systems to denote a car which functions as a small locomotive but also provides space for passengers and baggage. These locomotive cars were often used on suburban routes by both interurban and intercity railroad systems. There are approximately 600 million passenger cars worldwide (roughly one car per eleven people). Around the world, there were about 806 million cars and light trucks on the road in Two thousand seven ; the engines of these burn over a billion cubic meters (260 billion US gallons) of petrol/gasoline and diesel fuel yearly. The numbers are increasing rapidly, especially in China and India. This is all. Thank you for listening to me.

Should parents be obliged to immunize their children against childhood diseases?

Or do individuals have the right to choose not to immunize their children? Some people argue that the state has the right to make parents immunize their children. It seems to me that immunisation is necessary because it stops spreading diseases all over the world. Preventive medicine is a very useful way to eradicate illnesses because by applying it we do not need to cure diseases or treat their symptoms, we just prevent them. Every year thousand of children’s lives are saved thanks to timely vaccination. In addition, history also demonstrates us that childhood illnesses of previous centuries such as measles, tuberculosis and diphtheria have declined dramatically nowadays due to preventive care, which has protected children from potentially deadly diseases. Some members of our society will mention freedom of choice and insist that parents can make their own decision

Clownfish

Twenty-nine species of clownfish live among the reefs from East Africa to French Polynesia and from Japan to eastern Australia. Among scientists and aquarists, clownfish are also known as anemone fish because they can't survive without a host anemone, whose stinging tentacles protect them and their developing eggs from intruders. It's still a mystery exactly how a clownfish avoids being stung by the anemone. Of the roughly thousand species of anemones, only ten host clownfish. What's good for the clownfish is good for the anemone, and vice versa. Clownfish spend their entire lives with their host anemone, rarely straying more than a few yards from it. They lay their eggs about twice a month on the nearest hard surface concealed by the fleshy base of the anemone, and they aggressively protect the developing embryos. If the young fish doesn't find an anemone and acclimatize to its new life within a day or two, it will die

Churches in Tartu

Churches in Tartu There are about 29 churches in Tartu. Some of them look like modern churches, but a large part of them are old ones. Here is Tartu St. John’s or Jaani church. Tartu St. John's Church, which was built in the 14th century in Gothic style, is one of the oldest in Estonia; moreover, it is unique in Europe due to its many original terracotta sculptures. Numbering around a thousand, these 700- year old sculptures were largely hidden till the 1950's. The entrance to the church is free, but if you're looking for more than old sculptures, a view, then it costs. Access to the viewing platform costs 2 euro per adult and 1.50 euro per student. Rivalling St. John's Church as Tartu's most impressive, St. Peter's church, located over the river, is a red- bricked, pseudo-Gothic. It was built in 1884, allowing it to seat up to 3,000 people. The advantages and disadvantages of an internet.

many different distractions, such as games, chatting, music or movies that many people spend all their spare time sitting in front of computer. Chatting and communicating frequently through the internet may make us unsocial in real life moreover people often say things and act in the computer networks in the way they would never do in real life. In summary I would say that internet has both positive and negative sides, in my opinion it is just wonderful tool to communicate with people who are thousand kilometres away from you or find all the information you need in just 0,14 seconds. Nevertheless I also spend sometimes too much time on TV series or cartoons, which are too easy to find in the internet. To conclusion I would say that internet is superb if you wont go to the limit with it and use it expediently.

Even if scientist has lived thousand years he won't be able to do it. The graph in video shows that the amount on carbon dioxide rises and then rises the temperature, but it is not so, it is exactly the opposite. One way to save energy is to build better buildings, because big headquarters are built to last only for 30-35 years. Building them up and pulling them down needs a lot of energy and about 30% of building energy is spent on it.

Describing People

At least it seems like this to others, because she laughs a lot and is a very positive person. Marin likes to socialise and help others in every way that she can. She is very nice and neat and the most helpful person I know. But all the bright sides have always something negative. So do Marin. She really is a very attractive and friendly person, but when she gets angry, you should not be in her sight. She never hurts anyone physically, but her words can cause more damage than a thousand hits. She likes to take part in every action where possible so she has many hobbies. First of all, she is a very good tennisplayer. She also takes part in a dancing practise. Marin loves little kids and she likes to spend time with them in every free second she has. So she also acts in different camps as an educator. She is adorable! Considering all the things, there is too much positive sides in Marin to dislike her. She is popular with cowds and a non-smoker

Paljud ravimtaimed vajavad uurimist teadlaste poolt, et avastada milliseid raviomadusi nad veel sisaldavad.

Waldspirale in German

Today, I want to pay your attention to a house called Forest Spiral (or Waldspirale in German), which is situated in Darmstadt, Germany, Frankfurterstrasse street. This city with a population of 141 thousand citizens is known to be a «city of science», so there is no surprise that such an eccentric and creative house was built there in 2000. Many of us reading fairytales have dreamt about living in magic houses and this twelve-storey building twisted in a shell is a dream come true. This eye-catching house, built without any rectangular forms, has a green roof with a garden, for what it was actually called a Forest spiral.

Environmental issues in Estonia

Environmental issues in Estonia The Earth is considered to be the most beatiful planets in the Universe. But our planet is threaten by environmental problems. Even a small country like Estonia can make difference. Our capital city is fighting against air pollution. But people produce much refuse and ways of recycling are getting old. Water pollution is also a problem in Estonia. We have factories that let their waste run into rivers. One of the biggest problems in Estonia is air pollution. Our air is polluted by exhaust fumes, because today we have a lot of cars, buses and other machines. In 2009 we had 407 cars to thousand inhabitants, which is lower than European Union average, but this number is still high. Because cars produce gases that contain carbon dioxide. This carbon dioxide in the air causes global warming, which is the result of the greenhouse effect. Tallinn wants to fight against it by offering public transportati...

Alchemy English

For thousand of years scientists all over the world have sought for three main goals of alchemy. The most renowned goal of alchemy is the transmutation of any metal into gold or silver. Also they tried to create universal panacea. It's a remedy that would cure all diseases and prolong life indefinitely. The philosphper's stone was the key in these goals. This mythical substance could just as well be powder or liquid. Alchemy is considered as the precursor of the modern science of chemistry. The Philospher's stone is perhaps best known in Britain through the best-selling book and movie Harry Potter and the Philosopher's stone. But its origins go back thousands of years to ancient world. In those times a philospher was a secret wizard and a powerful sage. But what exaclty is a philospher's stone? To begin with its not actually a stone at all. It's not a solid rocky substance but a compound substance. That would have been kind of a liquid ...

Book review. A&Q (Slumdog Millionaire)

Page after page, I was riveted. His mis- adventures were more real, more painful, more lonely somehow - even though he was all of that in the movie too. His ambition was driven by more than love. And through all his life, his personality shone through. He was earnest, street-wise, innocent, likeable, and always, unassumingly profound. He learned from his experiences, but was prone to making the same mistakes. And I ended the book, feeling like I have lived a thousand lives. The movie just ended with a signature Bollywood song and dance. My take on this is obvious - if you've read the book and haven't seen the movie, expect it to be a completely different story. But if you've done it the other way around, read the book, forget about the movie, and you'll fall more in love with the main character. Ram Mohammad Thomas made you laugh in the movie. In the book, he made you think.

'Tis a consummation Millele inimliha pärijaks on, see on teostus, Devoutly to be wished. To die, to sleep-- Mida hardalt soovida. Surra, magada; To sleep--perchance to dream: ay, there's the rub, Magada : ehk isegi und näha : selles see vastus seisnebki. London - The City and Beyond

London - The City and Beyond The statue of a bronze dragon on Fleet Street is the entrance to the City of London. This is where the Romans founded Londinium almost two thousand years ago.
