Television

Television is a daily presence in the lives of most young children . TV is playing a very big role in their life. Television has its good side. It can be entertaining and educational, and can open up new worlds for kids, giving them a chance to travel the globe, learn about different cultures. The influence of television

The influence of television Television in Estonia started with broadcast experiments in the 1930's. Regular long broadcasted days started when Estonia was in the Soviet Union. That time there weren't very many channels and some were Finnish. Today there are big variety of channels, both cable and public television network, but technically Estonia has gone over to digital television. Television came more popular in Estonia in the 1970's, when there were more coloured TV's published. Almost every home had at least one TV. Television wasn't just for watching different channels, but also for gaming, like Super Mario, which actually was called ,,TV game" amongst little children. Television has the potential to unite communities, provide information to allow positive cultural, social and environmental change, and to create a true global village. It also has the

Television is a little more than a waste of time

Television is little more than a waste of time There is no doubt that the emergence of television is one of the most revolutionary events in the twentieth century. Almost everyone has a TV at home and watches it every day. Nowadays, people consider watching television as a sign of lazyness or boredom. I think that television has also some good sides and it is a little more than a waste of time. First of all, I think that TV is mainly a source of information. It allows people to get different kinds of information in an easy way. People can reach information in different languages and about different things just by clicking the remote control. We have channels that show information about other countries politics, economy or other news. In that way we can stay informed with the events

The role of television in our society

The role of television in our society Television is just one of the many examples of how technology has changed our lives. Having a television set in the home has become very essential in todey's society. We depend on it to entertain us with its sitcoms and to inform us about current world issues. The problem is that sometimes what we hear or see on television is not always accurate or correct. Sometimes news stories give us the wrong information and we believe that it is true because that is being said on television. They may give you a story, but they may leave out some details to prove their point or to make the story more interesting. We are also the most ill-informed people because we tend to want to watch the entertainment shows and not tune it to the news broadcasts so we are not informed about what is going on in our world

Internet (inglise keeles)

The Internet is the latest in a series of technological breakthroughs in interpersonal communication, following the telegraph, telephone, radio, and television. The evidence suggests that the Internet has blended into the rhythms of every day life: the Internet is used at work, in schools, in universities, and hospitals etc. It is used for a wide variety of purposes, such as surfing for information, working, playing online games, and just chatting. The fact that people are not interacting in visible public spaces does not mean that they are in isolation. It is just sometimes quicker and easier way to find needed information

The Effects of Computer-Generated Images

The Effects of Computer-Generated Images Nowadays, people are surrounded by all kind of generated images. Computer- generated imagery is the applications of computer graphics to create or contribute to images in art, printed media, video games, films, television programs, commercials. Everybody sees the world much prettier, thanks to the images, but. What are the effects of computer-generated images? Firstly, people are getting use to the thought, that everything around them is free from defects. People watch movies and pictures, play games and do not think, that everything they see is not a reality. They get depressed when finding out that the actual look of an object is not the same as it was on the pictures

Speech: TV is Little More Than a Waste of Time

Talk: TV is Little More Than a Waste of Time 4 min Television has become increasingly more popular through the years. Most Estonians have a TV or even several TV's at home. On one side, there are many people who think that television is just a waste of time and money. Some people spend hours in front of TV and it can be bad for your health. On the other side, It is thought that watching TV is a good way to relax. They like to be entertained after a long day and they believe that television can make you happier. I have to say that I understand both sides. I believe that television can have a negative effect on children because there is so much violence in movies and TV shows. Also watching TV can make you lazy. It's physically, mentally, and emotionally lazy. It requires no physical, mental, or emotional participation It's an addictive excuse that keeps people from leaving the house and communicating with real people. The commercials are also very annoying. But I think that there

Weather forecast. Millions of people tune into the weather forecast each evening on television. Most of them imagine that the presenter does little more than arrive at the studio a few minutes before the broadcast, read the weather, and then go home. In fact, this image is far from the truth. The two-minute bulletin which we all rely on when we need to know tomorrow's weather is the result of a hard day's work by the presenter, who is actually a highly-qualified meteorologist. Every morning after arriving at the TV studios, the first task of the day is to collect the latest

Media broadcasting (TV) Maria-Lisett Allak, Jan Kamenski To which time period does the usage of this media refer to? Television refers roughly from the late 1940s to the late 1950s. This period called "The Golden Age of Television" because at that time, the television spread across America very fast. According to The Television Industry: A Historical Dictionary, "the Golden Age opened with Kraft Television Theatre on May 7, 1947 and ended with the last live show in the Playhouse 90( https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=cHPdXQwRnoc ) series ten years later. For and against commercial advertising on TV

For and against commercial advertising on TV The purpose of this essay is to compare the positive and negative aspects of commercial advertising on television. Firstly, I think commercial advertising is the most important way of advertising, because the television is the main channel of information in today's world. Therefore, advertisements on television will give information about a new product to a larger amount of people. Furthermore, without this info our society would not exist, as it depends on people, who consume. Secondly, I think commercial advertising on television is important and good, because it helps television stations to get money for buying new films etc. The programmes shown on

Opinion essay

Opinion essay Television Promotes Violence Television has brought back murder into the home. There is no escape. -Sir Alfred Joseph Hitchcock (English film director and producer) I believe that in the previous quote Hitchcock expresses what he thinks about what the television is showing. In my opinion, he is saying that television is presenting a lot of violence and that people watching it are getting a bad influence. To begin with, I would have to agree with Hitchcock. Television really does promote violence, but there is still nothing being done. People, especially young children are still watching intense movies and cartoons. They are not understanding the reality that is before them. That is why I agree that television promotes violence.

Aadvantages and disadvantages of being on tv?

Television Advertising Pros and Cons According to a recent study by Ball State University on the media consumption habits of average Americans, despite the Internet's steady rise in popularity over the last few years, television remains the dominant medium in most U.S. households. On average, the general population spends over four and a half hours a day in front of the tube, making TV watching one of the most common modern leisure activities. Is it any wonder then that television advertising is also the most powerful form of advertising? Advertising on television allows you to show and tell a wide audience your business, product, or service. It allows you to actually demonstrate the benefits of ownership. You can show how your product or service works and how it's packaged so prospective customers will know what to look for at the point of sale. In advertising, it often takes multiple touch points to effectively influence consumers' purchasing behavior.

They watch TV mainly for entertainment, but they also watch it to learn and to find out news. Violence is a major problem, it has affected people for ages. Although violence on television is not the greatest thing, it should be not be banned. In my opinion TV can be very educationaland it shouldn't be banned. Most people watch TV to get away from reality. Watching shows that depict a fantasy world are a lot more interesting to watch. People don't want to see things that happen to them on a regular bases. TV can be educating. For example, there are countries that you haven't visited. Some shows take you right in the middle of it and you don't even have to walk. People also

Media

These nations grant the press freedom to report news and opinions without government interference. There are five chief fields of journalism: newspapers, news services, magazines, radio and television. A newspaper provides many kinds of communications. Some articles, such as news stories and recipes, furnish information. Others are usually meant just for fun. Newspapers cover more stories than do any any of the other news media. Many millions of people watch television for amusement during their free time. But television provides viewers with more than just entertainment. Most people get a large proportion of their news from TV news broadcasts. So television is the chief source of news for many households around the world. TV does what none of the other media can: it brings the sights and sounds of some importnant news events by means of filmed, taped, or live reports. TV violence, Essee

TV violence Nowadays, television is the mainstream medium, which influences significantly the public opinion and, furthermore, it has the power to influence the formation of an individual’s identity. In such a situation, television violence has a particularly significant and dangerous impact on the viewers, especially youth, whose identity, moral values and beliefs are in the process of formation. Young people often perceive celebrities they see on TV and imaginary characters they see in movies as models for their own behavior. Children usually want to be soldiers or gangsters. As a result, they attempt to follow their lead, which often leads to the development of negative models of behavior

Big companies are using many intensive techniques to promote their products. Now big companies are targeting very young people. Often companies advertise their products, like toys, on children's television. Many ads on television are for foods and soft drinks, which are not healthy. Children are easy targets because they does not necessarily care how useless some products are. To be honest, marketing is aimed at a very impressionable age group. Although it is parents' obligation to monitor what their children eat, drink or play with, many companies are still exploiting children for their own financial gain.

Monoloog: eating disorders

Some people say that while the appearance of waif-like models in the media may send a dangerous message about eating disorders, general fitness and fashion magazines and television shows with thin characters also play a key role in influencing irregular eating patterns. I agree this fact and I think people say that because lots of young people, mostly girls, think that they are overweight or fat. They think that because in magazines and in television there are mostly people with perfect appearance. Often these people start a diet, because they want to look like those models in fashion magazines. They eat few food and hope that when they don't eat as much as they want, they will look better. It may involve eating disorders and irregular eating patterns and it's really bad for their health. I think that eating disorders and irregular eating patterns are big problems today because girls with

Books today and tomorrow

Books today and tomorrow Ervin Sagor Books have always played a great role in life and it is important to read them but nowadays people read less than they used to do. When I think about our relationship with books a question comes to my mind: `'Will there be books in the future?'' I think people read more books in the past because then there were no television and radio to entertain people. In the present people rather watch moving images from television than pick up a dusty old book. My opinion on importance of books is that there are books with empty storyline as well as there are books that are considered as true gems which contain knowledge and a great story and the importance of these books is immeasurable. Considering the fact that people in the future will be even lazier than they are now

Books Today and Tomorrow

Will people read less in the future? Books have always played a great role in our lives and reading them is highly important. It increases knowledge and expands vocabulary, which integrates to writing. Reading books makes a person more intelligent and it gives a different perspective. Nowadays people tend to read less books than they used to. The main reason for this catastrophy is the development of technology. People would rather watch moving pictures in the television than pick up an old book covered in dust. In the past, when there were no television or computers to entertain people, books were basically the only amusement. On the other hand the lifestyle of ours has gotten tremendously busy and some do not find the time to just sit back and relax by reading. With the development of technology, people will become more lazier which may result in the lack of reading. Printed books will be replaced with e-books, print media with social media and so on

The English-speaking peoples have always allowed more freedom of speech and of the press than most other countries. This gave them an advantage from the start in communications. The ground work for mass communications in the 20th century was laid in the 19th century by two inventions which allowed people to communicate by wire. What I would change if I were omnipotent

What I would change if I were omnipotent The thing that bothers me the most in today's world is the lack of care. It is noticeable everywhere: in the streets, on television or even in relationships. If I had the power to change anything I would change the attitude of humankind considering the following issues. Drafted into military service in 1958, Presley relaunched his recording career two years later with some of his most commercially successful work. Eating habits and health

It is very easy to go a fast food drive-in after exhausting day at work or on your way to somewhere. It is also possible to even order the food to your home, if necessary. But is this good for your health? There are some advatntages and disadvantages of eating fast food, but this isn't the only way of eating unhealthily. It seems like every little girl dreams of becoming a model. They want to be thin and pretty like the models they see on television like my little sister. The media shows a great deal of beauty and thinness on television and magazines that are viewed by many people daily. Everyone has the desire to look like the actors and actresses do but, in reality, it just will not happen for most of us. Often the desire becomes an obsession and young girls see "thinness" as being a needed characteristic. For many girls, the teenage years are spent trying to acquire this look.
