It is better to rule in Hell than to serve in Heaven

Lisett Oras 10a It is better to rule in Hell than to serve in Heaven People have different opinions about this quote. It makes them think and discuss about Hell and Heaven. I think that this quote means that it is much easier to be a ruler of a place that has no rules and bans. People are allowed to do anything they want, but they still have to somehow obey to the ruler of the Hell s. However in Heaven the ruler has been and will be God. There you must obey and honor the God anyway.

An analysis of the problem of Political Power - essee

To conclude, Hobbes sees three main reasons of to attack in the nature condition: benefit, security and fame or reputation. Hobbes mainly leans on the idea that for the search of happiness people usually try to maximize their power. (Wolff, 1996) Locke says that it is possible to live without a state. Nature condition is a condition of total freedom, it is fair and connected to natural laws. (Wolff, 1996) Locke also says that it is obvious that no-one has natural right to rule because the God has not designate anyone to do it. Locke explains that even if we do not have rulers on the Earth, we have the ruler in heaven. (Wolff, 1996) Rousseau believes that it is impossible to live without the state. To opposite this belief, anarchists insist that we offer the state as a way against antisocial behaviour, but mainly they think that the state is the reason of that kind of behaviour. (Wolff, 1996) Who should rule? Which should the government be? Who should rule

Assignment Module 3 - BEPS project Action 4

The net interest expense/EBITDA ratio should be fixed in a corridor of 10-30%. This approach aims at two objectives – uses net interest expense to calculate the amount of tax deductible (to maintain freedom for a corporate to decide where in the group it is most effective to borrow), and by using EBITDA assures that the group has actual business earnings in that particular entity/country. This fixed ratio rule is advised to be supplemented with the group ratio rule to allow a more flexible approach to groups having high debt in a particular entity/country for non-tax reasons but low interest expenses in other group entities; and additional targeted/specific rules as necessary to manage volatility of interest expenses, achieve additional tax policy objectives or lower other risks. The fixed ratio rule, as a minimum, should apply to all entities in multinational groups. In reaching its recommended best practice approach – the fixed ratio rule - the

Võrgus on aja jooksul välja kujunenud terve hulk reegleid, millest iga interneti kasutaja peaks kinni pidama - sellega austate te teisi kasutajaid. Netikett on lühend sõnadest Internet ja etikett, seega netikett tähendab Interneti käitumisjuhiseid. Nagu Internet ise, muutub ka netikett kiiresti, kuid selle aluseks on ikkagi Kuldreegel ("Ära tee teistele seda, mida sa ei taha, et sinule tehtaks!). Vajadus netiketi järgi ilmneb eelkõige e-posti, uudisgruppide ja jutut...

The Norman Conquest

For over three centuries Western Europe was raided by the Vikings. The Vikings who had settled down in England had mixed with the Anglo-Saxons. They lived under the rule of the English kings. In the 9th century a territory in northern France was conquered by another branch of the Vikings. That territory was called Normandy. They took over the French coustoms, traditions and language. The Normans lived under the rule of their own duke. By the 11th century the dukes of Normandy had become very powerful. Altought the kinf of France was their lord, they were very independent. William was the Duke of Normandy when the English king Edwar died. William had promised him that he'll be the next king. But there was another relative , Harold, who wanted to be king too. William wanted to start a war. Knights from all over the France were invited to his army.Harold was killed in the battle and the English were defeated

Tolerance and Diversity essay

So, what are the main dangers to the tolerance and friendly coexistence in these countries? There are several phenomena which counteract the successful coexistence and integration of people from different cultural backgrounds. First and foremost, both coexistence and integration require a high level of tolerance from all those involved. Here, the major obstacle is often xenophobia which may be caused by a wide range of factors. As a rule, xenophobia occurs in big, mostly mono-cultural societies, where strangers are kept at a distance just because they have not been seen around before. On the other hand, xenophobia can result from the hyper-liberal immigration policy in some modern countries. For example France and Sweden which have warmly welcomed a huge amount of immigrants form Asia and Africa during the recent decades. However, instead of

TRADERUN ANSWERS

TRADERUN ANSWERS 1. Have the ENP and EaP been successful in terms of their original goals? Which has been the theoretical logic to cause it? Bring examples! The main idea of the ENP is to offer our neighbours a privileged relationship, building upon a mutual commitment to common values (democracy and human rights, rule of law, good governance, market economy principles and sustainable development). The ENP goes beyond existing relationships to offer political association and deeper economic integration, increased mobility and more people-to- people contacts. The level of ambition of the relationship depends on the extent to which these values are shared. Some examples which steps ENP has made in the field of human rights and which are

red stone. But you also encounter it a yellow waxy material perhaps something like amber. The philosopher's stone isn't can't be found but instead you have to creat it. The problem is that no one know excaktly how. Why did they look for a philosopher's stone? Because besides the ability to make base metals into noble ones it was said to have another even greater power. It could potentionally make the holder of philospher's stone immortal. So the stakes were high. Everybody knew that they could rule the world with this mysthical substance. But now everybody believed in it. Mixing together diferent substances probably shorten their life span by decades. They spent their lives to find it but I don't think that they managed it. Why i would like to have a philosopher's stone? Think about a person who can make gold. I could rule the world simply by being able to produce massive amounts of money out of iron or copper. I could be the richest person on earth and do what i want

Britain history.

A.D. Romans occupied Britain for four centuries. The Roman way of life all vanished after the invasions from Northern Europe by the Angles, Saxons and Jutes from the 5th century onwards. They ruined Londinium, but they were easily turned into Christianity and religion became more and more important. The Vikings, who came in the 9th century, first raided England to plunder it, but then they decided to stay. In the 10th century England fell under Danish Rule, with King Canute finally managing to unite the Anglo-Saxons and Danes at the beginning of 11th century. Medieval England After defeating the Anglo-Saxon King Harold at the Battle of Hastings in 1066, William of Normandy (who became William I, also called William the Conqueror) introduced the Norman feudal system, rewarding his French-speaking followers with land in return for their continued support. French remained the language of the upper classes and administration

Irish history

Politically, the state Ireland (described as the Republic of Ireland) covers five-sixths of the island, with Northern Ireland, part of the United Kingdom, covering the remainder in the north-east. The first settlements in Ireland date from 8000 BC. By 200 BC Celtic migration and influence had come to dominate the island. Relatively small scale settlement by both the Vikings and Normans in the Middle Ages gave way to complete English domination by the 1600s. Protestant English rule resulted in the marginalisation of the Catholic majority, although in the north-east, Protestants were in the majority. A famine in the mid-1800s caused deaths and emigration. Following a war of independence, Ireland was split into: the independent Irish Free State and Northern Ireland, which remains a part of the United Kingdom. The Free State left the Commonwealth to become a Republic in 1949. In 1973 both parts of Ireland joined the European Economic Community. The Troubles in Northern

1) Ülevaade (1-2 lehekülge oma teksti) YAR 2016 (New York) peamistest erisustest võrreldes eelmise YAR 2004 (Vancouver) versiooniga. Miks YAR 2004 ei leidnud populaarsust/kasutamist meresõitjate juures? When the YARs were last updated in 2004 at Vancouver there was, for the first time, a lack of consensus between the main commercial stakeholders regarding many of the changes, with shipowning interests also taking the view that the proposed changes were premature, given that the 1994 rules were only a decade old. The 2004 YARs were therefore incorporated in relatively few contracts of carriage. The YAR 2016 largely reflect the YAR 1994, which BIMCO has to date recommended as the basis for general average adjustments, while containing some useful clarifications and additions such as on low value cargoes. Importantly, it has been agreed that an annual interest rate of LIBOR plus 4 percentage p...

Canada´s history

For almost a century Canada was caught up in the struggle for power, until in 1763 England finally gained control over almost all of Canada. Gradually the British started to move westward and new provinces and territories appeared. During this settlement process the native Canadians were treated with more respect than the natives of the USA. Canada's real birthdate is July 1, 1867 when the British created the Dominion of Canada under British rule. In 1931 Canada peacefully broke away from direct British rule. In 1965 a new flag with a red maple leaf on a white background was adopted. The name Canada is believed to come from the Huron-Iroquois word Kanata, which means "village" or "settlement". In 1535, locals used the word to tell Jacques Cartier the way to Stadacona, site of present-day Quebec City. campaigns. The Magna Carta I, King John, accept that I have to govern according to the law. So I agree: 1. Not to imprison nobles without trial 2. That trials must be in courts; not held in secret by me 3. To have fair taxation for the nobles 4. To let freemen travel wherever they like 5. Not to interfere in Church matters... Rule King John ruled 1199 to 1216. He faced the following problems. Problems 1. John raised taxes in England to pay for the wars. This upset his BARONS! He ordered them to pay far more tax than earlier kings had done! 2. John went to war twice against the French king. His army was badly beaten both times. Using eye-tracking technology, he tested three different presentation times for subti- tles: two lines of 32 characters in 4 seconds (approximately 192 wpm), 6 seconds (130 wpm) and 8 seconds (96 wpm) respectively. The object of this study was to ascertain if the six-second rule (a full two-line subtitle displayed on screen for 6 seconds and shorter subtitles scheduled proportionally), accepted as common practice in most sub- titling countries, could be validated by empirical research on reading speed. Estonian national emblems and symbols

There are several important emblems and symbols of Estonia of which many are also known for the rest of the world. Estonian national emblems are the blue- black-and-white national flag, the national anthem and the coat of arms. The symbols are national flower (the cornflower), national bird (the barn swallow) and national stone (limestone). Estonian flag was originally the flag of the Estonian Students' Society which was consecrated in 1884. During Soviet rule, the flag was prohibited and it was first used again in Tartu in 1988. The national anthem is entitled as "My Native Land, My Pride and Joy". The melody was composed in the centre of the 19 th century by Friedrich Pacius and the Estonian lyrics were written by Johann Voldemar Jannsen. It was adopted as the official national anthem in 1920. US History: Native Americans and the first settlements

Considered one of the most important legislative acts of the Confederation Congress, the Northwest Ordinance also protected civil liberties and outlawed slavery in the new territories. The following three principal provisions were ordained in the document: (1) a division of the Northwest Territory into "not less than three nor more than five States"; (2) a three-stage method for admitting a new state to the Union—with a congressionally appointed governor, secretary, and three judges to rule in the first phase; an elected assembly and one nonvoting delegate to Congress to be elected in the second phase, when the population of the territory reached "five thousand free male inhabitants of full age"; and a state constitution to be drafted and membership to the Union to be requested in the third phase when the population reached 60,000; and (3) a bill of rights protecting religious freedom, the right to a writ of habeas corpus, the benefit of trial by jury, and other individual rights

Discription of classmate

Discription of my classsmate Ever since I first met my admirable friend Kristy on-holiday camp several years ago, she has been my favourite, irreplaceable companion. The first thing you notice about her, are her blue eyes, small upturned nose and large sensuous mouth, which make her face very photogenic. At first glance you can also see her long, blond hair, as well as slender body which make her look really amazing. As a rule she enjoys wearing atypical clothes. The most characteristic thing about Kristy is her unprecedented sense of humour. It is rare to cheer everybody up in different situations, yet she always manages to do it. Moreover, she is the life and soul of a party, which makes her extremely sociable. Pointing out her tendency to be incredibly precise and insistance an perfection. Some people claim she may seem quick-tempered but in reality deep down, she is really an amiable person.

however, if we knew the original power, we would also the intermediate motions. but we don't we only know the final effect and that is because of experience. - in all of nature, there are no connections conceivable by us. "One event follows another but we can never observe any tie between them. They seem conjoined but never connected." - conclusion: i. we should never make a general rule just because an event usually follows another event because we can't see the connection between them ii. we think that there is a link between one event and another because we expect there to be one from experience. Kant Cause and Effect - Argues against Hume - He does not believe that the connection between a cause and effect derives merely from a habit - "all changes take place in accordance with the law of cause and effect"

smaller. Prevalence of Overweight In Adults and Children JAMA, October 9,2002; vol 288, no.14 Taking big bites The American Journal of Clinical Nutrition found that people who took large bites of food consumed 52 percent more calories in one sitting than those who took small bites and chewed longer. By cutting food into smaller pieces, you can increase satiety and enjoy your food more thoroughly. A good general rule? The smaller your bites, the thinner your waistline. Sleeping too little or too much According to Wake Forest researchers, dieters who sleep five hours or less put on 2½ times more belly fat, while those who sleep more than eight hours pack on only slightly less than that.
