If you are not in facebook, you don't exist

First of all, I'd like to ask how many of you visit Facebook on daily basis?... I thought so! Nowadays it would be hard to find a person who hasn't heard of Facebook. One in every 13 people on Earth is on Facebook right now. It is equal to oxygen for millions and millions of people. It currently has 800 million members and the numbers are going up as we speak. It would be fascinating to know, what caused such kind of phenomenon. At present I believe I could say that life has gathered into the Facebook. We can track in real time what people are doing, who they are communicating, what their marital status is and what mood they're in. Even businesses are promoting and seeking for new potential customers- through different public games where you can win from fancy dinners to fully paid trips to Hawaii. And it has been made so simple- you only have to click like and share. I think that Facebook is a good way to boost one's ego. I see people ...

If you aren`t on Facebook, then you don`t exist

If you aren't on facebook, you don't exist. What is it the main reason why the human race waste so much of their time just passing on Facebook? And why We spend even more time sitting in front of of screen, chatting with friends, checking email, surfing the web, or worse, playing , pointless and stupid games on Facebook? That is the question which I have asked myself many times. In my opinion the main reason is that facebook has become an important communication site , beacuse it is available for everyone who has Internet connection.

Capital punishment - inglise keel

Capital punishment Capital punishment is the killing of a person by judicial process as a punishment for an great offence. It has been used in almost every part of the globe. There is an international organisation called Amnesty International who are fighting for human rights. Thanks for them there are many countries who abolished it. But is it right or should capital punishment exist? Firstly I belive capital punishment should exist because if you gonna take somebody's life it is only fair when you pay for this with your own life. Many people are thinking how cruel it is for a criminal but we should also think of the families that are broken apart because of the merciless acts of these criminals. Secondly it is too expensive to hold prisoners who have lifelong punishment. Especially it affects countries who are financially disadvantaged. It is not fair that taxpayers have to maintain the murders.

Presentatsioon keskkonnast

Presentation about enviroment Good afternoon everyone. First, let me introduce myself. My name is Valter and I am a student of Tallinn University of Technology. I'd like to talk about environment, its pollution and protecting. I shall only take 3 minutes of your time. Let me begin with the word enviroment and what it means! It means surroundings in which people, animals and plants exist. These are the things that we need, to be alive, but they are also many man-made things and technical progresses that harm the nature. Therefore we can´t live on this planet without basic components which are needed for human existence - air, water and soil. Firstly air, which is mostly a mixture of oxygen and nitrogen. People, animals and plants can ´t live without air. Without oxygen there would be no fire. So we can see, that air is the basic condition for life on the Earth

Imagination will make us infinite

Imagination will make us infinite Can you imagine life without imagination? Now i know that sounds like a silly question, but really think about it. What if we didn’t have the ability to mentally time travel and we were froced to live and think in the present moment at all times? To be perfectly honest, life couldn’t exist this way. You see imagination at its core is the beginning of all creation. Everything that we see, everything that we touch, all came from someones thought. Their imagination running wild. Albert Einstein said that “Imagination is more important than knowledge, because with knowledge we are limited to everything we know and understand, while with imagination , it makes us infinite. With your imagination, it can take you to places that you never dreamed about. If you’re

Õigusfilosoofia

1. What is the object of philosophical study? The object of philosophical study is being itself on an abstract level. Everything and nothing can be or exist. Things like colour, nature, material things like a table just are, but the meaning of being in be-ing in itself is unclear. Non Material things can also be or exist. If something is, then it is a being. But what exactly is this IS that we can see or on the opposite can not see? Therefore this is one of the fundamental questions of philosophy. 2. Can you reject solipsism? Solipsism (solus ipse) means nothing exists, therefore everything is an illusion outside of our own minds. I think that it is true that we know WE as in myself exists. But i can not for certain say that the person reading this exists although it might seems like it to me. I think

My mother tongue in 21th century

My mother tongue in 21th century Thousands of Years ago Estonian did not exist. Even nowadays not very many people speak Estonian, nearly 1,5 Million. Compared to English speakers, it's nothing. The Estonian language has changed very much as the years have gone by. The expressions that were used years ago are replaced with English phrases, which are especially popular among young people. That's because almost all films, song lyrics and popular TV shows are in English. They also use slang too much. It's

Buying on credit is an alternative way

INTRODUCTION: Buying on credit is an alternative way, it is said because it is a form of borrowing. MAIN BODY: First of all, credit card offer us a useful form of short term borrowing if you can repay your bill in each month. For example, when you are travelling or just need to unexpectedly make a ig purchase. However, before deciding to borrow money it is important to know if you will be able to repay it back in the future. People must know that free lunches don't exist and anyway they must pay later. PERSONAL OPINION In my opinion credit card is an ,,easy money" and often peole don't know what happens later. We should live according to our abilities and don't buy things when we haven't got enough money. CONCLUSION So, as you can see buying on credit is an alternative method and we should use it only then, when we know if we can afford the repayments.

Questions for the First Philosophy Test

The truth of a mathematical proposition is independent of questions about existence. 19. What does Hume think about the notion of cause-effect? We understand matters of fact according to causation. The notion of cause-effect is a complex idea that is made up of three more foundational ideas: priority in time, proximity in space, and necessary connection. 20. What does Hume think about the notion of substance? Hume held that since substance cannot be perceived, it should not be assumed to exist. What we call substance is simply a bundle of qualities created by our minds – it is an association of ideas. If qualities were all removed there would be nothing else there. Therefore, substance does not exist. 21. What does Hume thinks about the notions of God, the world and the self? Why? God, the world and even the self, don't exist. 22. According to Hume, what is belief and why is it important for life? Belief

Canada is a big country. It’s covering 9.9 million square kilometrs, making it the world’s second-largest country by land area. Canada stretches nearly a quarter of the way around the globe and covers six of the world’s 24 time zones. Canada has the longest coastline in the world, so it meets three oceans: the Pacific, the Atlantic and the Arctic. Canadians are multicultural. They are proud of the many cultures that exist side by side in their country. It has two official languages, English and French. The Canadian population is made up mainly of British and French origins. However Canada is not like Britain, or France, or the USA. The way of life there is very varied. It has influenced by immigrants from all over the world. Canadians prefer British English spellings, such as theatre, centre, colour and harbour. Words for some objects can be different, example a sofa is a chesterfield. There are also pronunciation differences in t...

Capital punishment should be abolished

Capital punishment is a form of punishment where a person's life is taken. Capital punishment has been abolished in Estonia since the year 1998, but the last man was executed in 1991. One of the reasons for not abolishing capital punishment are that a life long sentence is not as effective as execution, and that the death penalty affirms the right to life by punishing those who violate it in the most serious form. For example: death penalty should exist for serial killers. Another reason is that the criminals who would have been executed are now the country's responsibility and they use taxpayers' money. On the other hand, capital punishment is very inhumane. After the execution new evidence may appear and the criminal might turn out to be innocent but there is nothing to do because we can not bring back the dead. Another reason for abolishing capital punishment is the criminal's innocent family

Life in future

Life in future I think that technology will definitely influence our lives, but I don't think that life will be better than now, rather worse. The air won't be suitable for breathing so there will be probably some kind of masks or glass cities, where to live. Water won't be drinkable and people will buy all needful water from shops, actually not from shops but from the internet, because there won't be shops anymore. Food nearly won't exist anymore; energy will come in tablet form. Transport will be a lot comfortable and faster. Cars will be soundless and all vehicles will whir ten times faster. You will think nothing of taking a holiday in outer space. Students will learn from TV, recorders and teaching machines. They will get pills to make them learn faster. We shall be healthier, too. There will be no common colds, cancer, tooth decay or mental illness. But this will be artificial and impermanent.

For and against commercial advertising on TV

The purpose of this essay is to compare the positive and negative aspects of commercial advertising on television. Firstly, I think commercial advertising is the most important way of advertising, because the television is the main channel of information in today's world. Therefore, advertisements on television will give information about a new product to a larger amount of people. Furthermore, without this info our society would not exist, as it depends on people, who consume. Secondly, I think commercial advertising on television is important and good, because it helps television stations to get money for buying new films etc. The programmes shown on television have a higher standard and all this thanks to the profit from commercial advertising. Thirdly, although the advertisements on television help the television stations, I think

It primarily celebrates an artist's connection with nature using natural materials. The concept is best understood in relationship to historic earth/Land art and the evolving field of ecological art. The field is interdisciplinary in the fact that environmental artists embrace ideas from science and philosophy. Should parents be obliged to immunize their children against childhood diseases?

Every year thousand of children’s lives are saved thanks to timely vaccination. In addition, history also demonstrates us that childhood illnesses of previous centuries such as measles, tuberculosis and diphtheria have declined dramatically nowadays due to preventive care, which has protected children from potentially deadly diseases. Some members of our society will mention freedom of choice and insist that parents can make their own decision. But some old diseases still exist in the world and those who fail to take their assigned dose of medicine may negate the efforts of those who do. So those some parents have to think about the rest of mankind and immunize their children as well. In conclusion, immunization is one of the factors supporting the health of people. I firmly believe that parents should be made to vaccinate their children mandatory by law.

Theatre: Theatre as compared to film and literature

Theatre: Theatre as compared to film and literature Im going to compare theatre to film and literature. There are some seally big differences between thatre and film or literature. Firstly the main difference between literature and theatre is that if you read a book, you have to imagine the whole image in your head and thus everybody sees one thing differently, but in theatre you have a real live picture in front of you. Also in books the feelings, thoughts and emotions are described better than in theatre performances. Secondly, in theatre performances you can only see one stage and one place but in movies the situations are depicted in various places, for example on streets and other places, which can not be depicted on a stage so easily. In addition to that, in books all the situations are decribed in very small details and that is a really big advantage of reading books. In movies and thatre all situations are...

The ideal school for my children

In addition, academic lessons would be split into two halves. The first half would be a basic skills seminar, and the second an advanced class. Students would be able to choose whether to stay the second half, or else they could leave to work on their current project, read, or pursue an independent study of another subject. The students who stayed - the "second halfers" - would be known as the students with the greatest passion for the subject. No grades or competition would exist. Rather, the motivation to work would come from a desire to earn the respect of teachers and fellow students and establish a positive self-identity. Kids would also decide the degree to which they would like to participate. Involvement would be based on interest and the satisfaction of publically confirming their talents. If these ideas could be successfully implemented, the learning environment in my

What do scientists think about yetis?

One of the evidences made scientist believe was the film of female yeti that was taken in California 30 years ago. Other evidences are reports of hikers seeing yeti in the mountains and also their footprints. The reason why report was so strongly supported and believable was because scientists noticed that no one would go up Himalayas and make a lie. One more report was sent from a team of hikers who climbed Mountain Everest. Most scientists believe the Yeti does not exist because there are no final results found yet to this answer. As to the evidence found by explorers that seems to support the existence of the yeti, none has yet help up to scientific investigation. Such as the footprints that were believed to be the ones of Yeti was left by bears. A skull was found but it was not the Yeti's but a goat. A fur that must have been the Yeti's skin was supposed to be a Blue bear's skin. Since these evidences are not as firm as always, it

Harsher punishments will reduce the amount of crime.

Harsher punishments will reduce the amount of crime. Is it safe to live your life nowadays? Unfortunately it does not seem like that. Almost everyone can say that they have had some contact with crimes, it can vary from a minor offence to even a murder. But how can we reduce the amount of crime? Are harsher punishments the solution? Firstly I think that if the punishments are as weak as they are now, it won't make the criminals think. They get punished and still commit crimes. Probably the biggest punishment for a petty theft is community service which isn't much of a punishment. It gives the feeling that a person can do what he wants, live like he wants and nothing happens. Furthermore I think that the life in prison is actually quite good. A place to sleep, food and people. Many prisoners who get out of prison are not afraid to go back. They have a stable life there and they are satisfied On th...

The British constitution has envolved over many centuries and unlike many other nations, the UK has no single constitutional documents. But Britain does, however, have certain important constitutional documents, including Magna Carta, Bill of Rights and Reform Act. It is formed partly by statue law, partly by common law and partly by conventions. Fundamental law doesn´t exist in the United Kingdom. There can be distinguish three separate organs: the legislature, the executive and the judiciary. Parliament, the law-making body, consists of three elements: the Monarchy, the House of Commons and the House of Lords. Some theories of Literature

THE IMITATIVE THEORY The theory often includes the notion that art gives us not only pleasure but knowledge, insight into the nature of reality Art finishes knowledge, its value depends partly on its truth. THE EXPRESSIVE THEORY The artist is not essentially an imitator but a man who expresses his feelings. William Wordsworth: " Poetry is a spontaneous overflow of powerful feelings", the poet's job is " to treat of things not as they are but as they seem to exist to the senses and the passions. The work of art is not an imitation of the external world but an expression of the internal world, the embodiment of emotion. The truth has nothing to do with literature. Feelings can not be true or false. They simply exist. THE EXPRESSIVE THEORY What value does expressive writing have? One can reply : it is valuable for the writer: "If I don't write to empty my mind", Byron said, "I go mad".

Argumentative Essay

Argumentative essay Should monarchy be abolished in Britain?! The monarch's power over the nation has fallen so drastically that nowadays Britain's political system is described as constitutional monarchy. In fact the power is reduced so much that it is argued weather monarchy is needed at all. Firstly, kings and queens have been a part of Britain for centuries so the idea that royal families should no longer exist just does not seem right. I strongly believe that abolishing monarchy will cause more problems than it solves. The biggest impact will be the major fall in truism. Nearly everyone I know who have been to England have gone there to visit some part of the monarchy related attractions. Secondly, to my mind, monarchy is a symbol of military and political power. To this very day there are countries whose flags are market with Great Britain's flag. The most notorious of those is of course Australia

Imagination is More Important That Knowledge

Imagination is More Important That Knowledge Imagination is the ability to form a mental image of something that is not perceived through the senses. It's the ability of the mind to build mental scenes, things or events that do not exist, are not there or have ever happened in the past. Knowledge on the other hand is familiarity, awareness (osoznanije), or understanding gained (nakoplennqj) through experience or study. From the definition itself we can notice that to have knowledge you have to study or experience something in order to gain it but for imagination it is limitless, and also a gift from God to mankind and in fact has inspired us to gain more knowledge.

Wind energy vs oil shale

To: Environmental protection agency From: Subject: Wind power versus oil shale Date: September 22 Wind power vs oil shale Introduction The purpose of this report is to analyse if wind power is better than power which is produced from oil shale. The report is based on EWPA (Estonian Wind Power Association) article which is published on their web page. Wind power It is said that the wind power is the most expensive source of power, but this statement is not plausible, because the recourse -wind- is for free. Calculations have shown that if new oil shale blocks were built, it would cost 3473 million EEK in a year per capita. On the other hand, if wind power were renewed in similar amount, it would cost only 868 million EEK per capita in a year. It means that if the wind power were renewed, it would be 17 370 millions EEK cheaper. The fact that wind energy saves resources and produces neither dangerous ...

Do you consider yourself more functionalist or more conflict theorist?

opposites. Both have arguments, that make people think about the society they live in and both have theorists who critize each other. In my opinion, none of the theories are completely wrong but I do tend to agree with people on the conflict theory side. Firstly, functionalism ignores inequality and focuses too much on the positive functions in society. For example racism, functionalists will say that it must be imporant in order to exist as long as it has but in my opinion that sounds quite doubtful. The most problematic part about racism is above all the tension and conflict which comes with it. Seems to me, that functionalists ignore the negative sides which society has on people. Secondly, I agree that society will always be in conflict because of fighting for limited resources and their rights. I think it is in our human nature to get the best for oneself and therefore in many areas, competition is inevitable

Does the Higgs Field do something?

(Dated: September 16, 2016) Abstract Is studied the possibility to replace the Dark Matter and the Dark Energy with the single Higgs Field (or fields). The study in close direction was made in arXiv:1603.06242, and in “The Higgs Boson May Disintegrate into Dark Matter” (the Google News). Just because the physics is physical, then the Higgs Field do exist, do exist throughout the spacetime, and even acts on curvature of the spacetime even in the cosmic void (the places without the baryonic matter). In case of the places with the baryonic matter the Higgs Field emits the Higgs Boson to give the baryonic matter the right amount of mass: therefore the density of the Higgs Field do not alter the mass of the baryonic matter. Because we are free to move in a void, then the Higgs Field is acting exactly as the Dark Matter and the Dark Energy. Do you agree?

The Haunting House

some who have been there. A master loved beer and whiskey. But he was incredibly mean and evil. He had no respect for others. Perhaps, he himself was affected by something paranormal but we don't know it. So much hatred and violence came from this master, that his household was held in deep fear for a very long time. It is actually a story of those who did nothing to stop the master doing anything he wanted to do. Caught in a trap of fear, the ghosts that exist in this ancient place are those who had opportunity to overturn the master, but never acted to do so. The evil master has never been seen, only his victims. Howling and wailing have been heard. Unsettled feelings and images of being horrified have been recorded. But never a glimpse of the evil one. And so, while you read this tale, never--ever be afraid to expose and overturn those who wish you ill, if you are truly encountering evil. There are always solutions.

Many people do not want the homeless to be apart of the same social circle. People are embarrassed of the homeless because of the many stereotypes that they have been given. It is time we stop ignoring the homeless and treating them as if they do not exist. Government must play a better role in helping these individuals that do not have a home. Social workers must find different means for helping the homeless. Permanent residence facilities should be considered instead of temporary shelters. Job programs for the homeless must concentrate on getting these people out of the streets and into the workplace so they can make something of themselves and not rely on the government just to give them what they need. Society must

Chemical properties NEON Neon is chemically inactive. So far, it has been impossible to make neon react with any other element or compound. Uses Neon has relatively few uses. The best known use of neon gas is in neon lights. Today, neon signs of every color, shape, and size exist. A neon light consists of a glass tube filled with neon or some other inert gas. The gas contained in the sign tube determines the color of light given off. The color given off by neon itself is reddish-orange. Neon lighting was invented by French chemist Georges Claude (1870-1960). Claude displayed his first neon sign at the Paris Exposition of 1910. He sold the first neon advertising sign to a Paris barber two years later. Neon lighting is now used for many other purposes

There comes the scandals towards him too. Even now, two years after his death, he isn't left alone. Firstly, Michael Jackson was born on August 29, 1958. I guess that he didn't even imagine that when he grow up, he'll have so many admirerers, but he was a musical person as a youngster. He started singing in a band when he was in the family band The Jacson 5. He

Tambora vulkaan

(3.7 miles) in diameter and 1,100 meters (3,609 feet) deep. It formed when Tambora's estimated 4,000-meter- (13,123-foot) high peak was removed, and the magma chamber below emptied during the April 10 eruption. Today the crater floor is occupied by an ephemeral freshwater lake, recent sedimentary deposits, and minor lava flows and domes from the nineteenth and twentieth centuries. Layered tephra deposits are visible along the northwestern crater rim. Active fumaroles, or steam vents, still exist in the caldera. Archaeology: Pompeii of the East 7.In 2004, scientists discovered the remains of a village, and two adults buried under approximately 3 meters (nearly 10 feet) of ash in a gully on Tambora's flank--remnants of the former Kingdom of Tambora preserved by the 1815 eruption that destroyed it. The similarity of the Tambora remains to those associated with the AD 79 eruption of Mount Vesuvius has led to the Tambora site's description as "the Pompeii of the East." 8

My ideal school

If these ideas could be successfully implemented, the learning environment in my school would be a fascinating self-journey, as useful

Hobbies

Hobby, which is good and useful way to spend your time instead of playing computer games. I live in the countryside and because of that i don't have many opportunities do deal with hobbies, which I like. I have one hobby, which I really like, but the negative side of it is that I can do it only in the winter. No, it's not skiing, it's ice skating! I love it and it doesn't urge not much at all in the winter. All you need are ice skates, warm clothes and clean ice, which exist in the countryside too. I have bought myself figure skates, which didn't cost much, because i bought already used ones. Ice skates can be really expensive, but you should buy expensive ones, when you are already professional. The primary danger in ice skating is falling on the ice. You can be injured really seriously, but usually you just get some bumps or bruises. The second, and more serious danger is falling

Everything in TV

The easiest and straight forward way to use it is to simply connect a computer to your TV set. Connecting one's laptop to the television still leaves open the question what to do for a remote control. One way is to use wireless keyboard and mouse which gives the ability to type in search terms. There are other devices that allow you to pull content down from the internet into your television but those programms all share one common thread: all the content is prepaid. So free television does not exist on these internet TV devices. Expressions 1) To sit on one's couch- ühe koha peal istuma 2) Be forced to sift- läbi vaatama/sõeluma 3) High definition- kõrgkvaliteediline 4) Widget-based system- vidinatel põhinev süsteem 5) Affected by the limits- piirangute poolt mõjutatud 6) One of the primary forces- üks juhtuvaid jõude 7) Tremendous success- tohutu edu 8) The true value of teamwork- koostöö tõeline eesmärk 9) To stay focused- keskenduma

three years of middle school, which may have cohorts, and four years of high school. There is some variability in the arrangement of grades. Estonian school system The Estonian educational system does not differentiate between primary and lower secondary education. Almost all schools are public. There are three religious schools. The amount of private schools is quite small. Some private schools are partly funded by the state. Ancient Egypt was among the earliest civilizations and for millennia, Egypt maintained a strikingly complex and stable culture that influenced later cultures of Europe, the Middle East and other African countries. After the Pharaonic era, Egypt itself came under the influence of Hellenism, Christianity, and Islamic culture. Today, many aspects of Egypt's ancient culture exist in interaction with newer elements, including the influence of modern Western culture, itself with roots in ancient Egypt. Democracy in the US

Within a few years, the more powerful nations of Europe were claiming great areas there and establishing colonies to support their claims. Most of the colonists were English, but there were also Germans in Pennsylvania, Swedes in Delaware and Dutch in New York. Some of the early British colonists had come to the New World in hopes of enriching themselves, some came because Britain forced them to leave and some because of the opportunity , which did not exist for them in Europe, to own land or practice a trade. But there were also reasons, which had great influence on the shaping of the political system of the USA. For example, William Penn, a member of the Religious Society of Friends, was granted a large tract of land by King James II. There Penn founded the colony of Pennsylvania, where he set up laws protecting freedom of religion and speech. People fleeing persecution in Europe eagerly settled in the colony.
