Efficient initiatives to help protect the environment

we recycle, used materials are converted into new products, reducing the need to consume natural resources. If used materials are not recycled, new products are made by extracting fresh, raw material from the Earth, through mining and forestry. Recycling helps conserve important raw materials and protects natural habitats for the future. As recycling saves energy it also reduces greenhouse gas emissions, which helps to tackle climate change. I see this as a more sufficient way compared to saving electricity for example (but which, of course, is important too), for it’s generally easier to just recycle. It's really easy to carelessly waste energy–– leaving a light bulb on here and there, keeping the air conditioning on at home when you're out at work or school all day etc. Although it may not be obvious, there is a connection between energy use and the environment. As the same with recycling; when you consume less power, you reduce the amount of toxic fumes

Virtual Lab - Programmi arvustus

Water creates energy

Water creates energy Eduard Kamenski 11a form The world uses energy from many different sources, such as: hydroelectric power, nuclear power plants, solar energy, and wind generated power. There are positive and negative aspects of each source, but which source of energy is best? My opinion is that the best source of energy is water and I'll bring up some facts why do I think so. Hydroelectric power is currently the world's largest renewable source of electricity. It accounts for six percent of the worldwide energy supply or about fifteen percent of the world's electricity. Water has been found to be a major source of energy. Water power is utilized at present mainly as hydro-electricity. It is produced from moving water and from falls with the help of turbines and dynamos. Hydro-electricity has acquired great significance as a source of energy in the country in the present times and is being put to different uses

capita in a year. It means that if the wind power were renewed, it would be 17 370 millions EEK cheaper. The fact that wind energy saves resources and produces neither dangerous emissions nor toxic waste is also in favour of wind energy. Power from oil shale In the time when many world countries close factories that use fossil fuels, Estonia is starting to build new factories that work with oil shale. Taxpayers pay subsidy for oil shale in every year unconditionally the amount electricity produced and also when it is known that this source of energy has no perspective. Also it is not economically useful to produce electricity from oil shale. It would be more beneficial to use oil shale for producing oil shale oil. In present price of black oil, producing electricity from oil shale is causing 21 EUR loss per ton of oil shale. Conclusion To sum it all up, it seems to me that using wind energy would be more reasonable, because it is cheaper and environmental friendly

Fourth level Fifth level Negative aspects of solar energy Solar energy does not work at night without a storage device such as a battery. Cloudy weather can make the technology unreliable during the day. Solar technologies are very expensive. Requires a lot of land area to collect the sun's energy. Wind energy Most wind energy comes from wind turbines. Wind turbines are used to wring electricity from the breeze. Wind turbine use has increased at more than 25 percent a year. Wind is a clean source of renewable energy that produces no air or water pollution. Wind is free, operational costs are nearly zero once a turbine is erected. Negative aspects of wind energy Wind turbines make noise. Slowly rotating blades can kill birds and bats. Wind is variable: if it's not blowing , there's no electricity generated. Wind turbines are expensive. Hydroelectric power

of these can vary considerably. Some technologies are already mature and economically competitive (e.g. geothermal and hydropower), others need additional development to become competitive without subsidies. This can be helped by improvements to sub-components, such as electric generators. The table shows an overview of costs of various renewable energy technologies. For comparison with the prices in the table, electricity production from a conventional coal-fired plant costs about 4¢/kWh. Though in some G8 nations the cost can be significantly higher at 7.88p (~15¢/kWh).Achieving further cost reductions as indicated in the table below requires further technology development, market deployment, an increase in production capacities to mass production levels, and of the establishment of an emissions trading scheme and/or carbon tax which

Natural resources - our treasure

that are in no danger of a lack of long-term availability. Some natural renewable resources such as geothermal power, fresh water, timber, and biomass must be carefully managed to avoid exceeding the worlds capability to displace them. Solar energy is the energy derived directly from the Sun. Along with nuclear energy, it is the most important source of energy on Earth. People usually use solar energy to produce electricity and heat. Wind power is the conversion of wind energy into a useful form of energy, such as electricity, using wind turbines. These wind turbines are popular in counties, where the average speed of the wind is at least 6 meters per second for example in Germany, Denmark, USA and India. Hydropower is energy derived from the movement of water in rivers and oceans,it can be used to generate electricity using turbines, or can be used mechanically to do useful work.

Windpower

Wind power is very old power source, sailing ships have been using wind power for at least 5,500 years. The first practical windmills were built in Afghanistan, from the 7th century to grind corn and draw up water. The first windmill for electricity production was built in Scotland in 1887 to power the lighting in the cottage, thus making it the first house in the world to have its electricity supplied by wind power. During the Second World War, small wind generators were to recharge submarine batteries. In the 1990s, wind power became more important, because fossil fuels pollute the atmosphere and humanity needed alternative fuels. That's because wind power is so necessary. Wind power is also renewable energy and it doesn't cause greenhouse gases. Building windmills is actually quite expensive and they need repairing or replacing about every 12-15 years

Tuuma energia

....................13 Introduction What is nuclear power? Nuclear power is any nuclear technology designed to extract usable energy from atomic nuclei via controlled nuclear reactions. The most common method today is through nuclear fission, though other methods include nuclear fusion and radioactive decay. All utility-scale reactors heat water to produce steam, which is then converted into mechanical work for the purpose of generating electricity or propulsion. In 2007, 14% of the world's electricity came from nuclear power. More than 150 nuclear-powered naval vessels have been built, and a few radioisotope rockets have been produced. Nuclear life cycle The Nuclear Fuel Cycle begins when uranium is mined, enriched, and manufactured into nuclear fuel, which is delivered to a nuclear power plant. After usage in the power plant, the spent fuel is delivered to a reprocessing plant or to a final repository for geological disposition. In

BARRIERS TO DISTRICT HEATING DEVELOPMENT IN SOME EUROPEAN COUNTRIES

It increases risks and financing costs, like in the UK and Ireland, where DH is not established. There are few multi- family houses with central heating and it is expensive to build DH networks in built areas. Most French DH systems are operated according to long-term concessions by companies that sell electricity and gas. No strong actor provides unbiased DH support. In the Czech Republic, gas offers DH severe competition. Much DH is produced at the expense of electricity that is considered more valuable, and waste incineration is not popular. In Romania, DH consumption was reduced by one-half. Distribution losses are enormous. New less polluting plants are needed. Consortia from established DH countries could offer DH systems from fuel to customer if local policies facilitate DH development. Introduction This paper describes barriers to district heating (DH) in various parts of Europe and to Swedish involvement in district-heating business abroad

Kuidas on elektrienergia tootmise struktuur ja kogus muutunud 1990-2014 ( vt joonist Electricity generation by fuel)? Elektrienergia tootmine on 24 aasta jooksul väga palju kasvanud. 1990. aastal oli elektrienergia tootmine 23 000 GWh, 2014 juba 68 000 GWh. Eriti suured hüpped toimusid 2008.ja 2011. aastal. 2004. a toimus palju muutusi. Nimelt hakati kasutama suures mastaabis hüdroenergiat. See moodustas kogu energiatoomisest 1/6. Küll aga on järgnevate aastate jooksul hüdroenergia osatähtsus vähenenud. Samal aastal suurendati ca 6x gaasi kasutamist. See kõik oli

Some people say that every body should do voluntary work for environment Nowadays when most of the people live in city environment don't see what that makes to the nature. Big city's wastes lot of water and product a lot garbage all so waste air with fumes. It would be great when people who take something from the environment give something back to it. This is easy when just start doing something. If nobody doesn't drop junk on the ground then that's a good thing to. Also should take part on different trees planting and junk cleaning events. I guess that government and local authorities should make more and more with that kind of purpose events. At this evolution period can people buy also cars witch waist less environment. When going to tank a car then should take with less toxic fuel. What less we use electricity helps on saving environment. But when we don't do these simple things then eventua...

Environmental problems in Estonia

plakatile ei kirjuta :D Main environmental problems in estonia: · Oil shale mining and burning · Excessive tree felling · Air pollution · Eutrophication Oil shale mining and burning. Estonia environmental problems are mostly caused by oil shale mining and burning. About 30 000 Hectare ground is unusable. We have a large ash mountains thanks to burning of oil shale. To reduce pollution we need to decrease mining of oil shale and shale-based electricity producing. Air pollution the biggest air pollution is in large cities. It´s caused by big factories, a lot cars and deficient environment ordinance. To decrease air pollution we need to use less cars and more public transport. Eutrophication It means water enrichment of nutrient. In eutrophic water there is less oxygen and water quality low. There are some things to improve it: · To disable phosphate use in detergents · Eliminate sources of pollution

Environmental problems

Environmental problems Many environment problems are caused by human actions. 1. Air pollution. Use public transportation instead of your own when going to work. Air pollution is also drastically reduced by conserving energy. It is the little things, like switching off fans and lights when you are not at home. Electricity causes the burning of large amounts of fossil fuels, which in turn pollute the air. Solar power is a fantastic solution. Now that solar radiation is at a climactic peak, we can reap power from the sun using solar panel systems. These range from home systems to larger scale systems powering entire communities and cities. 2. Deforestation. While individuals can rarely have a personal impact on the deforestation rate, there are other things you can do

Arts related entertainment should be free

On the one hand, a lot of people think that art especially art galleries and exhibitions are boring and actually do not know anything about it. They think that it is pointless to pay for something boring, so if art exhibitions would be free, more people would visit them and learn to evaluate art. Also art educates people and enlarges their knowledge. But on the other hand, keeping and taking care of exhibitons have so many expenses like hiring skilled staff or paying electricity bills that it is impossible not to pay for visiting art galleries. In addition to that being a artist is a job like every another one too and needs to be paid. Finally, I think it it better to decrease the prices of art galleries to the lowest price so that anybody in society could afford it and enjoy arts. In this way more people would visit art exhibitions and educate themselves. In conclusion, in my opinion arts related entertainment should not be free, because all artists

Nuclear Power: A Burden or a Blessing? Today, when the pollution of Earth is an important matter, people are trying to find economic solutions to produce power. This is where the necessity of nuclear power plants comes in question. Nuclear power plants are a cheap way to generate electricity but it also brings a lot of pollution that is much more radioactive and toxic than, for example, coal waste. But if we are looking at the facts, burning coal pollutes the Earth much more than nuclear power plants because more waste is generated. CO2, which is released from burning coal, is the main cause of global warming. Nuclear waste is collected and hidden in rocks or under ground, where it won't face the environment.

Estonia vs England

United Kingdom is at the top thirty, with its public debt being 89.30 percent of the GDP. Natural resources can benefit a country greatly, if the country was lucky to enough to have anything valuable as in oil. United Kingdom is way more lucky at this point as they way surpass Estonia in natural resources. As United Kingdom has gold, iron, natural gas and so on. Estonia’s only natural treasure really is oil shale that they used to make electricity and peat. So UK really dominates Estonia at this category. Same goes for the population, while Estonia has a shy of one million, UK trumps that with around sixty five million. The main population is mostly white ethnic group for both of the countries, so we can consider that a similarity.

Kenya

Nairobi, Mombasasse, Kisumi. Kenyas on noor elanikkond (73% inimestest on alla 30 eluaasta vanad). See on tingitud elanikkonna kiirest kasvust.

Fifty years from now, life will be much easier and healthier for odrinary people than it is today

Also there is the ,,Clobal Warming" people are talking about. The world will run out of water. People will die in thirst. Waters price will be higher than a kg of gold. On the other hand when people will devide in two diffrent groups there won't be such a massive robot producing. And robots are not the only good improvment in technology. The scientists might come up with a new source of enegry, maybe in fifty years time we will be able to control lightning and get electricity from it ? I can't say that the climate will not get warmer in fifty years, but that is natural The world has had five Ice ages. The cilmate changes all the time, there are warmer periodes and colder periodes. In conclusion I think in fifty years time world will be a better place to live maybe not so much healthier than it is today but better for sure.I think people will manage controlling robots and will try to eat healthier.

Inglise keele essee teemal: ,,Senior high school students – old enough to live on their own?\'\'

Moving out on your own for high school at the age of 16 can be a thrilling experience. No more restrictions and home coming times or annoying schedules. Is this freedom suitable for everyone then, especially at that age? Despite the fact that you have the freedom of choice to do everything you want to there are many disadvantages. Like your mom is not there every day to prepare you a hot dish, doing the laundry and washing the tableware, also all the phone-, water- and electricity bills to be paid or the simple fact that you have to buy everything from the food to the toilet paper - all by yourself. This may be too difficult to high school students. So you might end up using large amounts of alcohol or some illegal substances to relax more in the weekends. On the other hand there are also advantages. It's a great chance when the person realizes all the responsibility that he or she has to deal with. But you are not alone, there always be some support

When this ends up not being the case, as where warm water pollutant tolerant species are found in what would be considered cold water species habitat, then the biologists look closer into possible causes for the ecological imbalance. When combined with water chemistry, habitat, and stream invertebrate information, a clear picture of the ecological system is brought in to focus from which sound management decisions can be made. 8.1 Introduction · Electrofishing - use of electricity to: capture fish guide fish block the movement of fish Elektripüük öösel http://www.fisheries.org/units/education/fisheries_techniques/Chapter8/Night%20boat%20electrofishing %20unit.jpg Fish in an Electrical Field · Behavior change or reactive movement · Trauma from Stress due to physiology Injury due to mechanical tissue damage Fish in an Electric Field

Smart cities

They can gather and send information. Standby lighting can switch on when somebody walks by. There can be specific lighting to cross the street safely. Smart cities can also help you finding a parking spot. Life can be easier using different sensors. Waste collection companies can watch online how full containers are. Weather sensors can manage automatic watering systems and detect leaks. Other sensors can provide updates on air pollution, noise and river level. There is no need to read water or electricity meters anymore. Everything will be available in real time. This solution can also save resources. Smart cities make life safer. If there is an accident, an alert goes out immediately. Thanks to remote monitoring you can follow an instant update on the situation. Drivers can receive warnings on their GPS. Traffic lights can adjust to regulate traffic flows and prevent traffic jams. Charles Montgomery found out that the most important ingredient of human happiness is social connections
