Pirita Convent Anete Samelselg 10th grade About the convent It was founded by St. Birgitta in 1412 and consercrated in 1436. The area is 1360 square meters. It was the biggest church building in the Middle aged Estonia. Name Pirita is orginated from St. Birgitta. The idea and construction The history of the the Pirita Convent dates back to the 15 century. The idea to found a convent in Tallinn, the capital of Estonia, was initiated by some Tallinn merchants already in 1400. Building plot was donated from Livonian Order. The building were built in two different parts. One for nuns and one for monks. Church in the middle and it was used by both. St. Birgitta rules In the convent have to live both - nuns and also monks. Nuns and monks were seperated and did not see each other at all.
My childhood story Whenever I think about my childhood, one story comes to my mind. A story I am proud of. It’s about how I helped my one year older brother when he got stung by a bee. It’s not just an ordinary story because my brother, back then, was allergic to bees. And because of that I may have saved his life. It all began on a sunny summer day at my grandfather’s country home. We had a dog back then and he had his own fenced garden with a doghouse in it. Me and my brother were just fooling around outside doing funny stuff. At some point he decided to go let the dog out. The poles that were holding the fence up were holo inside and the bees thought that it was a great place to make a hive in. It was a warm and cloudless Friday evening in summer but Angelina didn't want to go to a party. She went for a walk at a park. The book is written by Mati Unt. The action takes place in 1972. The main characters are Mati, his wife Helina and Helina's lover Eduard, who is a violinist. The main character is in the situation where he has to spend a weekend with his wife Helina and her lover Eduard. The trio goes to Eduard's summer house, surrounded by the majestic scenery of big forests and an empty beach. The weekend is full of accusations, desperations, self-pity and loneliness. Mati has decided to win back his wife but if he wins his wife back or not becomes clear at the end of the book. This book is actually compulsurary for the 12th grade in our school. Asi t is an interesting book, I would rather recommend it to girls from the age 17 than to boys, because it is quite romantic. What is more, there is also a movie, that was shot after the book in 2006, also called ,,Tühirand" (,,Empty beach").
