Stiva's habits are described in detail. To avoid arguing with Dolly about an affair he had with another woman, Stiva tries to distract himself by plunging into his work. He reads a liberal newspaper and comes off as a bit of a rogue (Tolstoy himself was a conservative). Stiva follows the liberal tradition, which denounces religion and marriage as cheap institutions. When a widow drops by to ask Stiva's help with a petition she's submitting to the government, Stiva helps her--not because he actually cares about the woman or her cause, but because he wants her to think well of him. We find out about Stiva's history: he was lazy in school but nevertheless used his connections to achieve a distinguished government career. Published in 1939. That made him notorious. Contained a lot of elements that went against puritanian minds. Story of farmers, that is forced to move from their Oklahoma farm elsewehere, to California. They are forced to move because of the natural disaster, the dust storms. People were motivated to move. The family Joads, the story of general generations of the family, how they cope or do not cope with this transition, from this move from one lifestage to another. Actually there is little plot to speak of, little adventure. State of small farmers who move from one state to another. Once they are in California, they find themselves in economic system that is even worse. They now are almost like slaves without any rights or land. Steinberg style of speaking contains two types of chapters. There the so called rreallistic chapters that describe the family and so called interchapters, which depict the economic situation of American agriculture. But these chapters

Ender says will sting without provocation, the setting is peaceful, allowing Ender the mental recovery and relaxation he needs. Next comes the shuttle ride to Eros, where Command School is located, the trip is long and Ender and Graff begin to feel enclosed and tired of the space. I think that his poems are interesting. They reveal much about Larkin's life and about the social issues in the 20th century. Larkin is also considered to be one of the greatest English poets in the 20th century. I think that Larkin was quite interested in politics. For example his poem ´´Talking in Bed´´ begins with the lines /Talking in bed ought to be easiest, Lying together there goes back so far/. At first it gives the reader an idea that he is talking about two lovers, but actually he is talking about England and USA. He describes the darkness that is creeping up. In my opinion he is talking about USA, which is beginning to creep up on England or on Europe. And because of that England is becoming a less dominant and more isolated place. He is saying that intimacy is dying and that may represent the globalization. Another political poem I really enjoyed is ´´Homage To a Government´´. Larkin says that next year they are going to
